| BJF Visit to JCF Head Quarters - update Corridor Project | ||
|
One thing is clear from this trip, the scope of work still to be done is and signifcant amounts of funds are required so we can give the highly needed support to this project and to JCF. Though JCF were excited and enthusiastic to see how our Foundation has been creating awareness about the corridor-project already. Also the way how we are involving people, A-brands and companies for fundraising to promote the Corridor-project. Together with Dr. Leandro Silveira, Ben went by boat to see for himself the first 130 km of this 2.000 km river-corridor project. This stretch of the river-banks has already become 'protected nature' and is a ‘major success’ and example for the future. This was not achieved by force from the government! But by cooperation between JCF and the local farmers who reforested part of their massive land to the benefit of mother nature. People, fishers, farmers and industries along the river are part of the solution of this biodiversity corridor-project, not just a threat so I learned. It is even more clear now that the documentary project we aim to make, is highly necessary... to inform the people in and outside Brazil, how they can contribute to a sustainable future for its flora and fauna. Other than the documentaries, we discussed that our foundation will partake in realizing tasks in Brazil ourselves, once the fundraising campaign is successfully completed. It was interesting to learn about the history and planning of this Corridor project and how this massive 2.000 km project is slowly being implemented.. step by step. It gives us another boost to continue with our Black Jaguar Foundation mission, to keep on raising awareness and funds to help realize this project. On a more light note, Ben had a walk with one of 3 jaguar cubs. They are just 4 months and was great experience to encounter these magnificent animals from so closely. Sadly their mother was killed by hunters. A true movie will be made about the lives of the 3 cubs and how they will be put back into the wild. After 4 months time, nobody can be with them anymore as they get too strong.. ![]() <== back to Home page <== back to BJF News |
